ABSTRACT
The manufacturing control system CAMOS (Control Application Mediator Object
System) solves the data management problems in production processes by
using an embedded active object-relational database management system. This
thesis investigates the usability of CAMOS for modelling and controlling a
production cell of moderate complexity, which was taken from a case study of
the Forschungszentrum Informatik (FZI), University of Karlsruhe, Germany.
Operating the production cell takes care on safety requirements to avoid
damage of machinery and injury of staff. Furthermore, this thesis presents a
compiler for the task level programming language, CAMOS(L) and a detailed
description of the language. It defines different techniques how to model
machines and their behaviour using CAMOS(L).
