Programming Environments Laboratory

PELAB is concerned with research in the area of tools and methods for the development and maintenance of computer software. Some examples are debuggers, languages, incremental programming environments and compilers, compiler generators, tools for debugging and maintenance of distributed and real-time systems, program transformation systems, etc.

Our view on programming environment research is pragmatic. We are primarily interested in developing and investigating new methods and tools that have potential practical applications, e.g. in support systems for software specialists. Developing such tools is very important, since most of the rising cost of computer systems is due to development, debugging and maintenance of software.
